Production Awards
The Naledi Theatre Awards covers all mainstream professional productions from the period 1 January – 1 December of the previous year and the Naledi judges typically evaluate over 100 productions in approximately 27 categories.

Nominations
The Naledi Theatre Awards is open to all Professional Theatre Productions staged at a mainstream venue in Gauteng as well as Fringe theatres and some Festivals (e.g. 969, SoSolo, RedFest, on condition criteria are met).
Naledi recognizes professional South African Artistes, Producers and Creators. Overseas Directors, designers and actors are also eligible if the creative work is done in SA.
Special Awards
- Lifetime Achievement Award – honouring veteran artistes, technicians, and administrators who have dedicated their lives to SA Theatre;
- Innovation in Theatre Award – This Award is presented to a Company, Producer or Individual demonstrating a significant contribution to the SA Theatre community through innovation, vision, commitment and leadership;
- World Impact Award – This award is presented to an individual, company or group who have raised the bar of South African theatre internationally;
- Lesedi Spirit of Courage Award – Presented to a theatre luminary who has transcended great disadvantage or trauma to make an impact.
Panel of Judges
The Naledi panel of judges consists of informed and regular theatre-goers, academics and members of the media covering the arts in Johannesburg.
